Chapter 14 - Ultra Wormholes?



    'I still can't believe that happened to Agaric, and just after he evolved too...' Tikki sighed.

    'At least Mimi evolved into a Steenee, and according to the Rotom Dex, she's close to evolving again..' Katara stated.

    'At least it's a step up.' Adrien shrugged.

    'You're one to talk, you haven't evolved despite being really great friends with Jill.' 

    'I'd prefer my cute form of Meowth, as I'd bet you do as well, Katara.'

    'Sh-shut up!'

    'Ah! Is that a faint blush I see?'

    'Yeah right!'

    "Okay you two, settle down!" Jill said as she walked into the room they were staying in at the Pokemon Center. 

    'How did the others like it at the Poke Pelago?' Azul asked.

    "They liked it a lot, we even made a new friend, a Rufflet named Little Creek. Apparently, he's from Unova, but decided to go looking for a trainer and end up there. He's training with Ames. Oh yeah! I almost forgot! While I was out training them, Star evolved into a Jigglypuff, and Mimi evolved into a Tsareena."

    'That's great!' Katara smiled as Jill sent Mimi out of her pokeball.

    'I guess I'm the tallest.' Mimi smiled a bit.

    'For now, I'm close to evolving, just a couple more levels.' Katara smiled, 'And then there's Azula, she's almost there as well!'

    'So why did your brother ask us to meet him there with the professor?'

    "I don't know Jolt, but it must've been a good reason." Jill shrugged as they got to Paniola Ranch. 

    "Hey Jill! Howzit! I knew I heard your footsteps!" They turned around and saw Hau. "I just finished Mallow's trial, you know? Phew, that Mallow Special of her's was just good enough to break the mouth, eh? Anyway, you're heading to the Dimensional Research Lab, right? Maybe I'll meet you there." He said before running off.

    "Go! Nobby, use Splash!"

    'Pew?'

    "Heh... I was just acting like Conor and Jill." Lillie laughed a bit, "You... You always seemed to end up getting hurt, Nebby. So I never really liked Pokemon Trainers or thought that I would want to be one myself. But when I see Conor, Jill, and Hau... It's like they've thrown open some door that I always thought was closed... They stride straight through it into the future... It seems... so amazing somehow..."

    Nebby stared at her for a bit, then turned and saw Jill arriving, 'Pew?'

    "Oh! Um, oh, Jill, hello. I didn't see you there."

    "It's all right, I actually just got here. The professor and my brother asked to meet me here."

    "Really? Me too." She smiled and they walked into the lab.

    When they entered, they were met by Professor Kukui and Conor, as well as a woman with white hair, who Kukui introduced as his wife, Burnet. 

    "Three months ago, I found Lillie lying on a beach. Cosmog was also in her bag, it was unconscious too." She explained once Hau arrived. "It's extremely rare, but sometimes a hole appears from out of nowhere here in Alola, we call them Ultra Wormholes. Conor even went though one when he was on his journey over a year ago, though..." She turned to him, "He won't tell us anything."

    "You wouldn't believe me if I told you, plus, the International Police and the League Association have me under sworn secrecy, I couldn't tell you even if I wanted to." He put his hands up in defense, "It was only for about a day anyway."

    "Really? Because if I recall correctly, when you were found again, you had a Pokeball you wouldn't let out of your sight afterwards, as well as a full team of evolved pokemon."

    "And your point? Can't a guy just keep his monstrous friends close and safe as well as make sure his pokemon are prepared?"

    Burnet sighed, "Anyway, from what Conor DID tell us, it appears this rift leads to another dimension, one unknown. The reason people think it might be a different dimension, or multiple at that, is because of legends of fearsome Pokemon appearing from the Ultra Wormhole. It's very weak as proof, but I can't ignore it, especially with both what Conor witnessed and with your Aunt Tanya's experience during the Delta Crisis in Hoen, and her experiences in Sinnoh some decades ago. There is also evidence in the Pokedex of different dimensions, right?"

    "Fearsome pokemon?" Hau questioned.

    "Even normal, wild pokemon sometimes attack people, right? But the Pokemon in the Ultra Wormhole went way beyond that. They were called Ultra Beasts, and they were feared. If the storries are to be believed, the guardian dieties of the islands fought desperately against them alongside the Kahunas of Ancient Alola and five trainers that used evolutions of Popplio, Rowlet, Litten, and Rockruff. But like I said, it's all legends and folklore, it's hard to tell fact from fiction. But I would be happy if I could somehow unravel the mysteries of the Ultra Wormhole by studying the dimensional disturbances, as well as recent real life experiences, I still have a few more people to interview, such as the champions from Hoen and Sinnoh,as well as trainers who raise pokemon like Bronzong or Bronzor."

    "And I guess that means you'll be interviewing my aunt then?" Jill asked.

    "Yes, well, we don't have anything else to go on when it comes to personal experiences with wormholes and different dimensions, especially since your brother won't let us pick his brain."

    "Once again, I'm not allowed to tell you. Take it up with the League or the Police if you want to be in the know, but I'm not talking, and don't ask my dad or Jill to question my Pokemon, they're not telling either." Conor said, walking out. When he got outside the building and out of the lot, he looked around. Seeing no one there or watching, he took out a pokeball and let the pokemon in it out.

    "...Guess you're still asleep, eh Cosmoem? You literally forced me to take you along with me, and then decide to go to sleep once evolving? You reacted when I brought you to the Alter and the different ruins, but nothing happened..." He sighed, "I just wish I could understand you and Nebby, then maybe I could figure out what's happening." He returned it to it's pokeball and began to walk around the town, letting Rai and Veon out to walk alongside him.
